Medical Kits & Telemedicine
Maritime Aviation have partnered with Medical Support Offshore (MSOS) Ltd who provide comprehensive, worldwide medical support and training for an extensive range of clients, based on land, at sea and in the air.
The classes of MCA regulation kits (and those of other licensing authorities) that are available include Category A, B and C kits. These kits are intended for vessels undertaking commercial activities such as chartering and other commercial activities, and can be provided for any number of crew on a vessel. The MCA-approved medical kits are based on a modular layout that is intuitive to use, and is based on body organ system, or medical activity such as skin repair. This is a tried and tested system developed over the past thirty years, based on feedback from crew who have had cause to use these medical kits in emergency situations. In the event of a cardiac arrest, a defibrillator is an essential piece of equipment that forms an indispensable link in the ‘chain of survival’. Approximately half of all cardiac arrests may be treated with prompt defibrillation. The defibrillator kit is based on a semi-automatic defibrillator. This defibrillator will automatically recognise what cardiac rhythm is present, and determine whether a defibrillation shock is appropriate. Actual delivery of the defibrillation shock is dependent on the boat medic pressing the large button located on the top of the defibrillator. This sequence of actions is so designed to safely prevent shocks being given to other crew who may be inadvertently in contact with the casualty. Voice commands ensure that timings for cycles of compressions and defibrillations are as accurate as possible. Click here for more infomation.
